Episode 03 - The West Story

November 11, 2015

“The West Story” was a special project for a woman who lost her home in the West Explosion in April 2013. The client wanted the lighten up the outside of the house and create a fresh new look. The loss of a home is a painful experience, but the promise of restoration is even greater. We were honored to be a part of this rebuilding process for our client. Our hope was to give her a fresh start, which was the inspiration behind our vision for the home. Joanna chose light colors and simple decor and hoped to set up our client in a new space for her new beginning.

I would like the names of the paint color you used in the project. We're remodeling our downstairs and love your colors. I'm a huge fan!

    Good Morning,
Would you please give the colors for the kitchen, Dining and Living Rooms? I see two different pictures. One where the color looks like a light blue with a white trim and in an other the color looks like a greenish grey with cream trim. Also, is the ceiling different from the trim color. Would love to paint our house with the colors and have an argument settled with the husband in regard to the ceiling and trim colors.
    Thank you,
    Stephanie Tausch

The house is absolutelty gorgeous. My favorites were the fireplace and breezeway! I'm curious, though.... What happened to the outside color of this house? In some shots it looked cream and in others slate. Please tell!

I love your show. My daughter-in-law loves your show too. Last week they bought a home, built in 1970, in a small town in Iowa and it only has one bathroom for all of the bedrooms. No master bath and the one bathroom that all bedrooms share is narrow. They are looking for bathroom remodeling ideas. We drove to visit them over the weekend (4hrs) to see their new home for the first time. I told them I used to say, "what would Martha do?" (as in Stewart) Now, we need to say, "what would Joanna do?" God Bless!

I think this was the episode that made me a follower of Fixer Upper. Having grown up six miles north of West, the client seemed like homefolk and I was so happy for her. You make dreams come true before the dreams begin. You are a blessing.
