The Simplicity of Gardening

April 15, 2014

Gardening has become one of my favorite pastimes. Five years ago I would have never thought I would be into it because it seemed too intimidating. I finally realized gardening is actually very simple. You put a seed in the ground, water it, and watch it grow. The best part is when you get to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

I have a vegetable garden with tomatoes, greens, peppers, and other tasty veggies. The garden is a peaceful place for me; it helps me get my mind off the stressors of the day. I also have a little greenhouse with herbs and flowers to pick from; it makes me happy every time I walk in to this space. There really is truth to the saying “stop and smell the roses”. Plants are therapeutic and good for the soul. If you want to get into gardening, start small- you could do a single raised bed in your backyard or even just a simple herb garden on your window sill.

What are things in your life that bring you joy? Position yourself to get a daily dose of it, whether it is running, reading, or any other thing that helps you relax and enjoy the moment.

Amen. I believe having a garden is almost essential these days to counter all the "cyber junk" in our faces. Besides a little weeding is great anger management. Just sayin....

I love the house boat. I was wondering where you bought the ceiling fan you put in the kitchen? I would love to get the same one for my Florida house we are renovating.

    Thank you
